Survivng the Arctic

When your home is located in remotest part of Hudson Bay, Ontario your perspective of the world unique. No man made structures of any kind, just Polar Bear, Woodland and Tundra Caribou, all three species of Loons – Common, Arctic and White Headed. And, Geese, ducks and plovers so thick they cast a shadow.

Born almost 40-years ago on the Sutton River near Hudson Bay, Sam Hunter, is at home on Hudson Bay.  The son of the superintendent of Ontario’s famed Polar Bear Provincial Wilderness Park, Sam grew up within sight of Hudson Bay.  Now, an adventure guide, Sam shares his love of this land with anyone hardy enough to follow.

His specialties are giant Brook Trout and Polar Bear.  He’ll take you there through his businesses Polar Bear Expeditions and Sutton River Fishing.  Getting to the action is an adventure in itself…no roads here just a combination of commercial airline, bush plane, boat and canoe.  Accommodations are framed tents, as structures are not allowed in with in the park.
