SIDNEY, Neb. - The stage is set for the premier walleye tournament in North America: the 2007 Cabela's National Team Championship. A full field of 250 boats will take to the waters in the bay of Green Bay, Wis., on June 8-9.
Everyone at Cabela's is excited about the prospects of bringing the National Team Championship to Green Bay," said Eric Banks, Cabela's tournament director. "This is the sixth year for the tournament and the excitement grows every year."
This tournament will run in conjunction with International Bayfest, which will be held in Leicht Park in downtown Green Bay, featuring family-oriented activities geared toward all visitors of the tournament.
Combining these two events will increase the overall spectator attendance at weigh-ins and awards ceremonies for the anglers, in addition to offering interactive and display opportunities throughout each day for all spectators.
"We feel Green Bay will provide a great body of water and a great bite in early June, showcasing both the terrific anglers and the world-class fishery the bay is known for," Banks said.
Each of the two-angler teams participating in the National Team Championship earned its way into the event by qualifying through a Cabela's-sanctioned walleye tournament in 2006.
Cabela's National Team Championship brings together the nation's top walleye circuits and organizations to create a true national championship of walleye team fishing. Each participating tournament circuit and organization will send its top anglers, 250 teams in all, to the National Team Championship.
